We can't say enough good things about Jeff Amerine, Michael, Brett, Haley, and the team there. Check out this episode!

PODCAST: Making Zillow Irrelevant...Listing Village featured on Tech Nest Real Estate podcast

Image
" When asked about what may fade away in the future, co-founders Daniel Schroeder and Matthew Young didn't even hesitate. They said Zillow. You read that correctly. These two are working on a product called Listing Village that they believe will transfer the power from portals to the agent, reducing the need for sites and apps like Zillow. This is one of our longest episodes, but it's worth the listen!" Check out Matt and Daniel with Nate Smoyer on the Tech Nest podcast .

Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center

Image
We're excited to have been featured the newsletter for the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC , if you'd prefer a slightly easier tongue twister)! The ASBTDC is an amazing resource headquartered at UALR. A lot of our growth at Listing Village has been thanks to Martial Trigeaud, a consultant at the ASBTDC. If you have a startup in Arkansas, you should reach out to Martial at the ASBTDC. He's spent countless hours helping us see the big picture of what we're doing!

We're in the paper (sorta)!

So, this was cool. We opened up our fresh copy of Arkansas Business the other day and guess what we saw?!!! A picture of our own office, right smack dab in the middle of page 3 (well, technically, it was right smack dab at the bottom of page 3). We wouldn't have been more surprised if we had woken up with our head sewn to the carpet (thanks, Clark Griswold)! The amazing (and expensive-looking) views are courtesy of when we used to be a custom web development shop. People used to ask where our servers were (seriously). Once we moved into these fancy digs nobody asked us that anymore or questioned our rates.  But, seriously, if you want some amazing office space that's a lot less expensive than you would expect, check out the Simmons Tower. We love  Simmons Tower & Level 2 Business Suites ! Thanks for the feature in  Arkansas Business ! If you're looking for the best views in town, call  Bill Pendergist .

Inman: 7 Reasons Most FSBOs Crash and Burn...or 1 More Reason Realtors Are So Important

According to Inman.com 89% of FSBOs crash and burn . Well, not literally. FSBOs (homes For Sale By Owner) are a headache. To quote one of my favorite TV presenters (British for host), Jeremy Clarkson of the BBC's Top Gear, "how hard can it be?" The answer, it turns out, is very. Very hard, actually. I'm a nerd about behavioral economics. #2 in the Inman article, "emotional attachment is a barrier" is explained by a concept called the endowment effect . Business Insider explains that the endowment effect is caused by a link that we form between our possessions and our identity. The things we own are a reflection of us. A low-ball offer, it turns out, is actually experienced very much like personal insult. All of us think we make rational decisions, but overvaluing our home because we feel like it's a part of our identity isn't exactly rational. Check out the Inman article . It's a good read and a good reminder why Realtors are so impor

Nate Smoyer of Tech Nest podcast interviewed Matthew and Daniel

September 15 2018 Nate Smoyer, CEO of Real Team Panda, recently interviewed Matthew Young and Daniel Schroeder for the podcast, Tech Nest. We will let you know when the episode is released later this season. In the trailer for the season, Nate says of Listing Village: "I love the audacious attitude that they embody over at Listing Village.  They are unapologetically going after Zillow, and I think real estate agents will especially want to listen to that episode." https://technest.transistor.fm/episodes/which-real-estate-leaders-will-we-talk-with-this-season-season-two-preview

Listing Village is going to school

Image
August 21 2018 Listing Village is always looking to improve.  One way we are doing that is by applying for Y Combinator Startup School.  Listing Village was approved for the fall 10-week startup school hosted in Palo Alto, California.  The school consists of lectures recorded live, and later posted to the internet, as well as mentor office hours and reports sent in by the company.  Once during the school, the Listing Village team will fly out to California to meet with their mentor. Y Combinator is an exciting firm to be a part of.  After the Start Up School, Listing Village will apply for a more intense three month training in California.  Companies who have participated in this school in the past are Air BNB, Dropbox, and Stripe. To learn more about Y Combinator, visit http://www.ycombinator.com

Listing Village featured in the Daily Record

Image
June 18 2018 Listing Village was featured in this week's Daily Record.   http://www.dailyrecord.us/listing-village-local-company-provides-the-next-big-thing-for-real-estate-agents An excerpt from the article: In today’s ever-changing world of technology, agents are constantly battling the next big thing, the next app or social media trick that essentially eliminates their participation in the homebuying process altogether. Listing Village adds the human element back into the process, keeping real estate agents at the helm while acting as a guide for homebuyers. “You need a trusted guide when purchasing a home,” Schroeder explained. “Real estate agents are very important as this is one of the rarest financial decisions that most people make in their lifetime. Living in a house doesn’t mean you know how to buy a house or even that you understand your local market. You need a person on the ground who knows the market.” Within that vein, the team at Li

May 8 2018 Jamie Tayler interviewed Matthew Young and Daniel Schroeder for her podcast, BlockTalkPodcast.  In her blog post about the interview, Jamie writes: " Like agents of big brother or something, these tech savvy dudes are shaking up Little Rock and they started with my favorite market - Real Estate. Essentially arming every agent, they encounter with their own personal Zillow, this algorithm and information that they have compiled and engineered is in its own category of amazing." https://blocktalkpodcast.com/blog/2018/5/8/total-genius-how-to-stop-zillow-more-with-2-very-smart-dudes You can listen to the podcast here: https://blocktalkpodcast.com/blocktalkpodcast/2018/4/17/5zofiun99zn41aif4qz3cl1vn41v2k-kcc5x
